The Role

This is a senior engineering role with a strong focus on railway systems, safety assurance, and systems integration. You will play a key role in supporting the delivery of complex rail projects, working across the full project lifecycle-from design and systems engineering through to testing, commissioning, and operational readiness.

The role will involve close collaboration with clients, contractors, and multidisciplinary teams, and will suit an experienced rail professional comfortable operating in technically and commercially complex environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and contribute to project engineering, systems engineering, and safety assurance activities
  • Support the design, integration, verification and validation (V&V), and commissioning of railway systems
  • Interface with multiple technical disciplines to ensure effective systems integration
  • Provide oversight and input into contractor management, technical reviews, and risk management
  • Support contract negotiations and manage technical and safety‑related contractual matters
  • Apply recognised railway safety standards and best practices throughout project delivery
  • Act as a technical point of reference within project teams and for clients

Skills & Experience

  • Extensive experience in railway project engineering, systems engineering, and safety assurance
  • Strong technical knowledge of railway systems and interfaces
  • Proven experience in design engineering, systems integration, V&V, and commissioning
  • Background in contractor management, contract negotiation, and risk management
  • Experience working on major rail or infrastructure projects, ideally in a leadership or senior engineering role

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or a related engineering discipline
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience within the railway industry
  • Demonstrated experience delivering complex, large‑scale rail projects in North America and/or internationally
  • Experience applying CENELEC, RISSB, CMREA, or equivalent railway safety standards
  • Fluency in English
  • Membership of the Ordre des Ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ) is desirable
