Role overview
We are supporting a leading engineering consultancy on a major rail tunnel project in India and are seeking an experienced Tunnel Foreman with strong drill & blast expertise.
This is a hands‑on, site‑based role, supervising tunnel excavation activities and acting as a key interface between the Contractor, Client, and Engineering team.
Key responsibilities
Supervise and monitor tunnel excavation activities at the tunnel faceOversee drill & blast operations, excavation methods, and machinery usageMonitor work quality, programme progress, and safe construction practicesIdentify unsafe construction methods and escalate issues as requiredCoordinate closely with Site Engineers, Geologists, and discipline expertsSupport construction planning and reportingAssist with records, reporting, and billing support to the Project ManagerExperience & qualifications
Minimum 10 years total tunnelling experienceMinimum 7 years drill & blast tunnel construction experienceExperience on tunnels with finished cross‑sections ≥30 sqmExperience on continuous tunnel lengths ≥3 km (minimum 2 tunnels)Diploma / ITI / technical qualification in construction or related fieldEnglish language ability (minimum B2)Additional details
Consultancy‑side role (not contractor employment)Site accommodation, transport, visa support providedInternational tunnelling experience strongly preferred
